These literary devices are the keys to a writer’s arguments. At first I saw pathos as hard to use and kind of ineffective, however if you understand your audience and can anticipate your readers emotional responses then it can be wildly successful. Logos is my personal favorite device as in my daily life im a common sense and logic oriented person, this device in my eyes as the most effective as its hard to argue against sound reasoning. Ethos is what I think I will use the most to be successful in class, the ability to understand and use texts to fit and cater to your arguments is a hard skill to master but I believe is an essential part of higher level academic writing.
I noticed rhetoric during the superbowl as my friends were placing bets on which color gatorade would be poured on the winning head coach. Many people looked to Ethos and researched what the teams playing had been reported on using on prior games. Others looked to logos as the team’s colors were red and yellow and thus assmused the teams would use one of those colors.

Two students are arguing over the ethicacy of humans eating animals. One attempts to appeal to emotion by explaining the pain the animals feel when dying and how that blood is on the consumers hands. Others choose to view animals as a lower level on the food tree therefore making their meat a natural part of life.
